Ingredients:

  • 1 cup yogurt (curd)

  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish

For the Tempering:

  • 1 tablespoon oil

  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds

  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds

  • 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds

  • 1 dried red chili

  • 10-12 curry leaves

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken:

    • In a bowl, mix the chicken pieces with yogurt, turmeric powder, and salt. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes to an hour.

  2. Prepare the Kadhi Base:

    • Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the finely chopped onions and sauté until they turn golden brown.

    • Add the ginger-garlic paste and slit green chilies. Sauté for another minute.

    • Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they turn soft and mushy.

    • Add the dried red chili and curry leaves. Sauté for a few seconds.

    • Pour this tempering over the chicken kadhi and mix well.

  5. Finish and Serve:

    • Add garam masala and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.

    • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.

    • Serve hot with steamed rice or chapati.
